One Hundred Thousandth Knol

added by Michael on 17 Jan 2009

Have you visited Google Knol yet?  Knol is Google's collaborative effort that has "one goal: to help you share what you know"

Recently, the Google Blog announced that the 100,000th Knol had been added to their database.

Knol is a free service from Google that allows you to communicate, collaborate, and share your knowledge with the world.

In Wikipedia, it has been decribed thusly:

Knol has been described both as a rival to encyclopedia sites such as Wikipedia, Citizendium, andScholarpedia[21][22] and as a complement to Wikipedia, offering a different format that addresses many of Wikipedia's shortcomings.[23][24][25] The non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, which owns the name Wikipedia and the servers hosting the Wikipedia projects, welcomed the Google Knol initiative saying that "The more good free content, the better for the world."[26] While Wikipedia articles are written collectively under a "neutral point of view" policy,[27] Knol will highlight personal expertise by emphasizing authorship[10] and, like articles provided on Squidoo, HubPages, and Helium.com, knols will contain the personal opinions of the author.[1][28]
